In 2006, The Bay State Magic Elite 10U Team enjoyed a successful season. The 10U team placed 3rd in the State Tournament. The Team played in multiple tournaments around the state and ended its season at The Seacoast Summer Slam Tournament in Portsmouth N.H., where they were the only 10U team in the Tournament. The team came away with 4 impressive wins against older 11U teams. The team consisted of girls from Braintree, Brookline, Halifax, Milton, Quincy, and Weymouth. We are looking forward to another great season in 2007.
The 2006 season for Bay State Magic's Elite 11U team was another very successful one. The overall record of 30 – 17 although impressive is a bit misleading. 14 of the 17 losses were against 12U teams. This 1994 team came in 2nd place in the Springfield Sparks Tournament losing by 5 points to the 12U Bay State Magic Elite team. They also took 2nd place in the Bay State Games losing in the final to the 12U Massachusetts state champions. The highlight of the season was capturing the 11U Massachusetts State Championship. This was done in convincing fashion with an average margin of victory of 35 points. This automatically qualified this team for the Division 1 National Championships. In 2007, we are looking forward to defending our state Championship and competing nationally.
In 2006, the Bay State Magic's Elite 12U Girls Basketball Team enjoyed a very successful season. The team captured three tournament titles in 2006, including, The Golden Gato Invitational, The Springfield Sparks Classic & Mass Premier Mayhem Classic. After finishing second in the Massachusetts State Championship Tournament, the 12U team finished the regular tournament season with a very impressive overall record of 23-6. This automatically qualified the team for the AAU Division II National Championship Tournament held in Mason Ohio. Participating in the National Tournament, the team advanced to the championship bracket with three impressive victories. They suffered two close defeats and finished 22nd out of 44 teams participating in the tournament. A first year team in 2006, the outlook for 2007 team, is a repeat for another successful season.
The 2006 13U team compiled a record of 34 wins and 13 loses in competing on a national level and playing up in age groups in many of our tournaments this year. Playing throughout New England, New York, and in Washington DC, our team was competitive in every game we played in. With 5 new players on the roster this year we were able to fill every position on the court with size, athleticism, scoring, defense, and rebounding skills. We played team basketball with every player stepping up at some point during the season.
The outlook for this team is excellent. We continue to improve and continue to seek out girls who have a passion for the game. Girls who are willing to make the sacrifice to become the best basketball player they can be, who have a goal of playing college basketball or more.
Over the next three years our team will compete on a national level. We will provide the best competition we can find and we will provide the best exposure for the girls to display their talent.
The 14u Girls Basketball team won their 5th straight State Championship in 2006. They cruised the competition winning all games by 30 or more, except for the semis which was their greatest challenge against a River Valley team. The spring and beginning of the summer was spent preparing for the Nationals in Louisiana. The Nationals was one of the best performances a Magic team has ever had. They won their pool by going 5 -0, while beating State Champions from NY, MN, FL and the # 8th ranked team in the country from Houston, TX. The tourney ended with a tough loss in the round of 16 to a team from Tenn. Foul trouble, fatigue and a very talented team from Tenn. ended this great run. The future looks bright for them and they look to defend their State Championship next spring.
The 2006 season for the 15u Girls Basketball team was another very successful one. The season began by winning their 4th consecutive State Championship. The rest of the season was spent attending college exposure tournaments in NY, RI, and NJ and at Penn St. They showed themselves very well in those tourneys. The capper was beating a well known NIKE sponsored team from Virginia by 27 points down in NJ. The girls have received hundreds of college letters and emails over the past few months and are looking forward to another successful 2007 season.
